NEUROINFORMATICS: Overview

The overall objective of the Neuroinformatics Core is the provision of an informational infrastructure supporting the INC Research Projects. This framework enhances intra- and inter-Project collaboration and promotes communication between Project co-investigators and their colleagues in the larger neuroscience and informatics communities. As part of this overarching objective, a list of informatics definitions, links to neuroinformatics resources and Web portals related to functional neuroimaging are maintained.

The Neuroinformatics Core provides informatics support for each of the three INC Projects and is responsible for upgrading and maintaining the Human Brain Project Web Site. The Core also manages the distribution of grant-related resources, including raw data, program libraries, software tools, distribution sets and Web-based demonstrations. A specially-designed and secure Intranet provides computer-based resources for INC collaborators at their designated local, visiting or traveling workstations. As part of this informational resource, INC publications, research descriptions and explanatory graphics will be annotated and made available for use in manuscripts or presentations.
