NEUROINFORMATICS: Current Research

The Neuroinformatics Core maintains a growing set of neuroinformatics definitions, Internet resources and Web portals related to functional neuroimaging. Currently, explanations for Collaboratories, HBP and OECD are accessible from the INC Neuroinformatics Portal on the INC Web site; upcoming additions will include definitions and examples for Pipelines and Image Formats. Of particular interest is the updated Bibliography of Neuroinformatics with comprehensive reference lists for image registration and segmentation, ICA and path analysis, as well as neuroinformatics in general, provided by Finn Nielsen, one of the INC Collaborators at the Danish Technical University.

INC offers Web-based Resources highlighted as Software Downloads (both source code and precompiled binaries), Web-Based Demonstration/Services, Image Galleries, Publications (indexed to PubMed), and Glossary. We are currently working on moving our production software packages from demonstrations and evaluations to on-line service. We also anticipate making image galleries, process documentation and article repositories accessible to the neuroscience community to promote communication and collaboration between collaborators.

The INC pipeline is fast becoming an integrative concept, linking across all of the informatics-related INC Projects including Image Management, Preprocessing, Modeling, Analysis, Evaluation and Visualization. Borrowing from similar concepts already used in industry, the Human Genome Project, and by other Human Brain Project grantees, we are developing a process diagram with clickable units or sections as a conceptual framework internalizing the relatedness of our collective INC Projects.
